General Business News

BTC spent the week running at $81k and getting turned away, first on Tuesday and again on Thursday, before Fed comments at Jackson Hole pushed it under $78k to end at -1.4%. ETH kept BTC company at -1.3% and closed around $2,440, while the total crypto market cap closed exactly where it opened at $2.73t, a pause after the $500b August had already added to it. SOL occupied the other road and rose +3.5% to $102, with Charles Schwab confirming it will add the coin to customer accounts, and HYPE increased +4.3% to $83 after touching an all-time high above $86 midweek. Robinhood's two-month-old chain outworked all of them, clearing $989m of DEX volume on Friday, handling 5.52 million transactions on Sunday, and earning its apps $2.66m in a single day, double what Ethereum's took in. $PONS was the engine behind it, the launchpad token running from a $20m market cap to north of $400m through August.

SideShift handled $9.02m in gross volume, a -21.9% decline from a strong prior week that still averaged $1.29m a day and landed inside the top fifth of 2026. User shifting took $7.24m of the total (-23.4%), while liquidity shifting held up better at $1.78m (-15.1%). ADA/ETH (ERC-20) explained most of the gap between those two, the pair adding $180k in a week that the platform lost $2.5m. At $1.27m it carried 14.1% of all volume on the site, and the demand ran hard enough in one direction to keep rebalancing busy while user shifting slowed. Below it the board had turned over from the previous week's BTC-heavy lineup, with USDT (Liquid)/USDT (TRC20) sitting at a distant second at $553k, then USDT (ERC-20)/USDT (TRC20) at $276k and USDT (ERC-20)/BTC at $230k.

Shift count remained sturdy at 10,747 (-3.3%), for a daily average of 1,535 and achieving the second-busiest week of 2026 behind the one before it. Users arrived at close to the record rate but sent smaller amounts through, with average shift size dropping back under $1,000 to $839. The floor of the platform is what kept the number up. Shifts under $100 numbered 5,430 and turned over $151k, both within a few percent of last week and well clear of anything July managed, when that band was running closer to 4,000 a week.

Unsurprisingly, large shifts accounted for almost the entire drop in volume. The $10k and above band netted $4.42m (-31.5%) across 149 shifts (-29.7%), covering 49.0% of the week's total. Those two figures falling at the same rate says the shifts themselves were no smaller, but only that fewer of them arrived. That held true right across the top, with the $20k and $50k bands both shedding around a third of their volume and their counts moving down with them. Nineteen shifts cleared $50k, worth $1.48m between them, putting the average of SideShift's largest shifts near $78,000.

ETH ended the week on top at $2.62m, and it barely had to move to get there. A -4.5% slip was enough, and even that came from one side of the shift, with deposits halving to $418k (-50.6%) while settlements finished within 0.1% of the previous week at $1.77m. BTC gave back nearly everything it won the week before, down -56.5% to $2.06m. Its $2.68m fall was larger than the $2.53m SideShift shed in total, so without BTC the site's volume grew. ADA was the loudest riser, up +11.2% to $1.44m for a second week past a million and another high, with $1.28m arriving as deposits against a mere $3,449 settled. The ADA/ETH pair from the top of the board accounts for nearly all of it. SOL was the one to fall out of the top five, down -26.4% to $1.12m.

Top stablecoins spent the week changing rails. USDT on Tron added +14.1% to $2.52m while USDT on Liquid more than doubled to $1.84m (+130.3%), its best week of the summer. Meanwhile, both Ethereum-based stables dropped out of the top five, USDT (ERC-20) losing -65.3% to $977k and USDC (ERC-20) -53.1% to $956k. Further down, ETH on Robinhood nearly tripled to $359k (+193%), the most that chain has produced since it was listed in July, while ETH and USDC on Base combined for $575k, a 3 month high for each of them.

Alternate networks to Ethereum landed at $6.58m, a figure within just $2,000 of the previous week, with seven of the nine chains inside it posting a double-digit move in one direction or another. The Ethereum network moved one way only, dropping -40.3% to $4.76m and handing the alt networks back 58.0% of combined volume. Tron held first at $2.71m (+3.8%) and Solana second at $1.85m (-18.0%), with the two covering close to 70% of alt volume between them. The Solana network has now cleared $1m for nine consecutive weeks, its longest run since a two-year streak ended last December. Base nearly tripled to $635k (+183.8%), while BSC fell -36.0% to $412k for a third straight weekly decline and Arbitrum dropped -41.8% to $141k. Polygon alone matched the group total, holding at $472k (-1.4%).

Affiliate News

Affiliate volume came to $3.67m (-36.4%), keeping the group above 40% of gross volume at 40.7%. The affiliate behind the week's top shift pair took first place with $1.27m, effectively all of it from that one route, and got there across 2,080 shifts which accounted for one in five of every shift logged last week. That ended a four-week run at the top for the affiliate now sitting second at $871k (-74.6%), with its own count down to 774 (-28.3%). Third place climbed +71.3% to $708k alongside a steady shift count of 421 (+6.0%). Fourth belonged to a name back from months of minimal activity, turning over $148k from just six shifts. One affiliate further down logged 547 shifts, second only to the leader, albeit netting just $8.3k in weekly volume.

That’s all for now - thanks for reading and happy shifting.
