General Business News
BTC spent the first week of September within touching distance of a breakout that never arrived. It climbed above $82k on Friday morning, a few hundred dollars short of the ceiling that has capped it since February, before a strong US jobs report turned it around within hours and left it near $78k. ZEC meanwhile ran hard, adding +46.6% to peak at $1,249, a price it last held in 2016 and the strongest week anything in the top ten put together. BTC's own week got far more interesting away from the charts, when Liquid, the Bitcoin sidechain run by Blockstream, lost roughly 4,000 BTC out of its federation wallet on Saturday, about 95% of the Bitcoin backing it. The so-called "white hats" behind the drain returned 85% of the coins once Blockstream patched the bug, keeping close to 600 BTC for themselves with the sidechain remaining paused ever since. The other headlines revolved around Robinhood Chain and Solana launchpads. On Robinhood, Pons cleared $1.1m in protocol revenue in a day and drew a token purchase from Uniswap Labs, with the token peaking at $0.98 for an incredible 20x over the month. On Solana, StonkFun moved its new launches onto Raydium's LaunchLab and sent STONK +250% in a day to reach a $140m market cap.
SideShift handled $7.21m in gross volume, a fall of -20.1% that landed within 1% of the 2026 weekly average. User shifting represented $6.19m (-14.5%), while liquidity shifting is where the week really changed, as it dropped to $1.02m (-42.7%). Almost all of last week's rebalancing demand traced back to one pair, ADA/ETH (ERC-20), which moved $1.27m with buying running hard in a single direction, and its fall to $228k this week relieved that dependence. Nothing stepped into the space it left, so BTC/USDT (TRC20) inherited the top spot at $299k while carrying just 4.1% of total volume where its predecessor had represented 14.1%. Users spent the week trading BTC against USDT in both directions, selling into USDT (TRC20) for $299k and buying back through USDT (ERC-20) for another $252k. ETH on Robinhood and SOL changed hands against each other both ways for a combined $283k, putting the week's rotation between those two chains on the board here too.

Shift count came in at 9,796 (-8.8%) for a daily average of 1,399, the fourth-highest weekly total of 2026. It was also a third straight week above 9,000, something SideShift last managed in September 2025 after a year of sitting mostly in the 6,000 to 8,000 range. Sub-$100 shifts grew while the rest of the site contracted, adding to 5,547 (+2.2%) and turning over $170k, the band's best of the past ten weeks. They now account for 56.6% of every shift on the site, up from just over half a week earlier. Shifts above $1,000 grew in number too, climbing to 1,046 from 880, though the volume behind them fell -14.4% to $5.77m. The top end slowed instead, with shifts above $10k down to 113 from 149 and their volume off -32.4% to $2.99m, while the $20k group gave up 35 of its 84 shifts.

BTC finished level at $2.06m (+0.1%), the only coin in the top five to hold its ground, though the shape of its user shifts changed. Deposits climbed +13.8% to $1.11m while settlements fell -27.6% to $579k, so BTC flowed into SideShift at close to twice the rate that it left. ETH moved in reverse and lost -57.7% to $1.11m. Its deposits halved last week while settlements barely moved, and this week that inverted, with deposits nearly flat at $379k (-9.4%) and settlements collapsing -66.7% to $589k. The month-long pull on ETH stopped inside seven days, and the ADA/ETH pair receding took ADA down with it, the coin unwinding to $265k (-81.6%). USDT on Tron and USDT on Liquid fell almost identically, -37.8% to $1.57m and -37.9% to $1.14m.
Three coins grew against the general flat to downward momentum noted across top coins. USDT on Ethereum climbed +19.7% to $1.17m and returned to the top five after it dropped out of a week ago, with its user settlements up +57.1% to $508k. Below it, ETH on Robinhood added another +90.1% to $683k for a second straight record, making it the seventh-largest coin on the site in just seven weeks. USDT on BSC rebounded +149.4% to $653k, recovering everything it gave up over the previous month. Additionally, SOL slipped -10.0% to $1.01m and USDC on Ethereum fell -31.4% to $656k.

Looking at alternate networks to Ethereum, Robinhood was the clear standout, with its ETH volume alone confidently carrying it from seventh place to fourth. Only two other networks in SideShift's history have reached the top four within eight weeks of listing, BSC in 2021 and Tron a year later. More Robinhood listings on SideShift are currently in the works, with Cashcat, Pons, and Up already live. Combined alt network volume summed to $6.27m (-4.8%) while the Ethereum network fell -33.8% to $3.15m. The Tron network stayed top at $1.81m (-33.1%) while Solana held second at $1.72m (-6.7%), the two now separated by just $90k. BSC more than doubled to $918k (+122.7%) for its biggest week since March and back above $900k for the first time in nearly six months. Finally, Polygon added +13.9% to $537k, Arbitrum doubled to $296k (+110.7%), and Base gave back last week's spike to close at $284k (-55.3%).

Affiliate News
Affiliate volume came to $2.62m (-28.7%), taking the group's share of the site down to 36.3% from 40.7%. Top spot went back to the affiliate that has owned it through most of August, the surge that displaced it a week ago fading as quickly as it appeared. It closed on $1.11m (+27.7%) across 809 shifts (+4.5%), the only one of the leading names to grow on either measure. Second place fell -44.1% to $396k as its count dropped to 308 (-26.8%), the first weekly decline for either volume or count since early August. Third place has now held between $77k and $127k every week since mid-July, closing this one at $117k (-7.7%) while volumes doubled and halved around it. The week's most interesting entry however sat in fourth, a new affiliate focused on ETH (Robinhood) that turned over $189k across 532 shifts, more traffic than any integration bar the leader.

That’s all for now - thanks for reading and happy shifting.
